Timing was on my side for this hike as the tram is currently closed for maintenance which resulted in my hiking friend and me being the only ones at the peak!!! It was surprisingly and amazingly quiet. I started at the Marion Mountain Trail as I wanted the more challenging hike. It was easier than I expected though it still took a good 5 hours to summit. The key for me was to pace myself with the elevation as I didn't want to experience any altitude sickness as it has been a couple of months since my last high elevation summit. Overall, it was a lovely day for a hike up to Mt. San Jacinto and the views were spectacular. As John Muir most eloquently put it “the view from San Jacinto is the most sublime spectacle to be found anywhere on this earth!” My goal is to summit San Gorgonio Peak on Thursday so I can make the deadline of summiting all the original peaks by September 30th. Wish me luck as I'll need it!!!
