Easy day today. Once we finished up at Volcan we headed here to do a quick out and back up Lookout Road to Cuyamaca Peak. We arrived at the Cuyamaca State Park Parking Lot around 0800. Still $10 parking. The lot was nearly full, however we encounters very few hikers, maybe 4 or 5, as we ascended using the Lookout Road. We opted, again, to don our micro spikes at about the half mile mark. Lookout Road was very icy and slick during the first mile or so. Then it turned into more crunchy hard packed snow. Once again we had the summit all to ourselves.
Our descent was uneventful. We saw several hikers coming up the same route we used and as we returned to the car at about 1125 the lot was full and the rangers were blocking access from the main road.

Uneventful? I’ll remember that next time I try to provide entertainment by faceplant.
