First time up Cucamonga Peak. I started on the late side, arriving around 6:30 a.m. which meant I had to park a little further down the street which ended up being no big deal but if I arrived any later that would maybe have been a bigger deal.
I enjoyed the rushing water and I stopped to enjoy the view / sounds and to take plenty of pictures. Can’t take water for granted, so may as well savor it when we have the opportunity! In hindsight I should have plunged in the water at the end…my knee would have thanked me! i also enjoyed the plentiful shade during various sections of this hike.
The weather was perfect and hike was pretty straightforward but wasn’t well-marked in a couple spots – particularly in the rocky section around miles 1-2. Thankfully I had the gps map downloaded on my phone to get me back on track when i deviated slightly off course.
It was a bit windy at the top but the view did not disappoint. Everyone took turns taking pictures for each other to capture that one cool angle that everyone has seen plenty. Met some fellow six-packers on the trail and at the top…it’s nice to be able to connect with others who are doing this challenge.
This trail is much less hectic than Baldy which I’ve done a number of times. I think I’ll incorporate this into the rotation more often.
This was peak #5 for me…looking forward to the next one!
