Although I have completed six peaks, I am hoping to complete all of the other peak options by the end of the year. Today, I decided to combine Sawmill Mountain with Mount Pinos and Grouse Mountain for the 3-2-1 Challenge. Started the hike at about 630a and there were not too many people on the trail. I only saw maybe three other people on the way to the peaks but saw more coming back.
What made this hike different from the other peaks is that most of the climbing is on the way back, especially if you continue to Grouse Mountain. Apart from the final section, it is mostly all downhill from Sawmill Mountain to Grouse Mountain. I could not find the summit marker for Grouse Mountain but got close (Apart from my watch, I use a GPX route on my phone for pinpointing locations and the file did not download properly. Also forgot the paper map in my car!)
It is a really beautiful hike. Hope to come back and hike to Sawmill in the winter.
