This is my first time going up South Fork. It’s my new favorite way up to the summit. It’s a bit longer than Vivian but the grade isn’t so steep. This made for a quick decent since I was able to run down when I could. And the views from the windows are amazing. This is less traveled than Vivian and I only bumped into a few hikers/runners. I did some research before doing the hike. I learned to take plenty of water because there is no water source after 1.5mi, parts of the trail are rocky, and although it’s a gradual climb the altitude may slow you down. All of it was true. I took 4L of water and drank 3L; 30oz of electrolytes. I started to feel the elevation around the saddle, at 10,000’. I took my time from there to the summit. Time was 6hrs up, 4hrs down.
