I consider Cucamonga peak as my baby as it was the first big hike that I did, and now this year we came back to revisit.
We came more prepared this time. The right footwear, plenty of h2O and in a much conditioning than our previous summit but man, oh man, I still struggled goin down. There’s something about this trail, its rocky terrain, that really hurt my knee.
Anyway, as hikers we know suffering is part of it so I focused on the bright side. We bagged Cucamonga and the weather was perfect. Hiking in SoCal with the June gloom is the best. Once you are above the clouds, its all worth it!
The trail remains in great condition. We saw some of those lady bugs? Colonies or they just gather. What I love about IceHouse canyon is the sound of flowing stream while hiking. For me its heaven, and being at the peak above the clouds validates that, well until you make your decent, and your knee start throbbing. You realize, that you were in heaven but now you are in hell ????
