What a beautiful day, I feel bad for anyone not out enjoying the trails today! We started at 8am and went almost to the summit before seeing another person. On our way back we encountered a few small groups here and there, not crowded at all.
Thanks to whomever posted that fire breaks are *not* the trail! Regardless, we made a wrong turn opposite break up to Mount Lawlor. It's hard to see the trail from there and we saw no signs. (I did notice remnants of a brown painted signpost.) We got some extra steps in at the top of the hill where we were able to spot the trail winding around Lawlor and were back on our way to Strawberry Peak. I was grateful for the hiking buddy's GPS too. The turn from the Strawberry Meadows trail to the summit was well marked, so no other navigational issues. The mile or so up to the summit was about as relentless as advertised, but I love a good boulder scramble. Views at the top were most definitely as nice as advertised and we enjoyed our pics and snacks as well as good conversation. The good news with the unforgiving “up” is that the hike back down was pretty easy. I rarely hike with the poles but was happy to have them for the hike down, it definitely saved my knees.
Great day, and a hike that I'm thinking I'll do again with my family soon.

I was going to upload pics from my phone but can’t figure out how to edit… they’re on IG.
