We arrived at the trailhead from Bakersfield,Ca at around 6:50am. (Left town at 4:00am) The weather was chilly and the canyon was definitely living up to its name. As we climbed up the switch backs before Ice house saddle the sun greeted us and wanted things up a bit. We took a quick breakfast break at the saddle and continued towards the peak. There were so many friendly people on the trail. This is something we aren’t used to around the kern river Sierra. (We hike and never see another soul on a trail at times) we shared some laughs and took some breaks along the final switchbacks. At the top of the peak I was at awe at how far the views expanded. I’ve only hiked Baldy and Cucamonga so far but I’d have to say Cucamonga’s views were more satisfying for me. Happy trails!
