My original plan was to hike Humphreys (always a favorite), but the forecast called for rain and light dusting of snow, which seemed manageable, and thunderstorms (lightning is a dealbreaker). So I pivoted to Wilson Mountain, which I have started to avoid because the bugs are miserable, no matter what time of year I hike it. Amazingly, there were almost no bugs! It must have been cold enough they hadn’t come out yet. I also got a beautiful view of the San Francisco peaks with what seemed more than a light dusting of snow. And as I finished my hike and started to head out of Sedona, I saw the massive storm clouds form again over Flagstaff for the second time that morning, and confirmed my decision to choose a different hike.
