A few things to note:
Tire chains are required right now. They weren’t needed the day I went, but there was a checkpoint with an officer and a public works guy checking to see if you had them.
I hiked in microspikes. Can’t imagine doing it without them, as there was snow the entire trail. Most folks had snow shoes (smart than me ????) and a few skiers were out.
trail was hard to follow in the snow at times. A good map or GPS app makes a world of difference.
Gorgeous views and worth all the knee-deep post-holing to get to the top of Sawmill Mountain and Mt. Pinos.
the snow only got sketchier, so I’ll be back to complete Grouse Mountain with snow shoes or after the snow melts ????
