The weather has been uncharacteristically wet for sunny San Diego, so although this hike has been on the books for months, we made a last minute change to take the fire road, since we weren’t sure of trail conditions on the Lake Poway side.  The weather was drizzly and cool, in my option, perfect hiking weather.  The fire road is short and steep (2 miles up), but it is paved and well maintained.  Although, this was my third time taking this route, the giant rocks and panoramic views make it all worthwhile.  It was a bummer that there was no summit sign, so we took lots of pictures by the iconic potato Chip Rock.
