We followed a colleague's advise and took Corral trail to Flat Frog on the way up. That was an enjoyable trail. We were mentally prepared for the shortcut, which is supposed to be the steepest trail in all of Bay Area. It was not as bad as it could have been.
What we found hardest was 1. Coming down the Jackass trail – the gradient felt very steep. 2. Climbing up poverty flat. By that time, we were ready to be done and having another elevation to scale was exhausting.
So glad we did this though. It took us 9 hours including breaks. 5 down only 1 more to go!
