I felt like Robin Hood for some of it. It’s not too often you get true forest-hiking in Arizona, it’s usually desert or pines. Which there was also desert and pines on this trails, but a lot of overgrown foliage on a narrow path and shaded for the frost chunk. Most of the elevation gain was in the first two miles, with a very gradual incline to the top with some phenomenal views. I could have sat on a sun warmed rock all day while overlooking sedona, channel my inner lizard. There’s something surreal about looking down on the airport.
