I knew the odds weren’t in my favor, however I went for it anyway. Only rain was in the forecast, no lightning. From the moment I stepped onto the trail to the moment I stepped off, it was a constant drizzle. Cool temps, maybe the slightest breeze. It was beautiful. It was peaceful. But something stopped me about a mile from the top. Something told me to not go any further. I’ve hiked this trail before so I knew what to expect, which wasn’t anything crazy. I listened to my gut feeling and decided to call it and head back down. The rain started coming down heavier as a new set of storm clouds were moving in. I could only tell myself to be thankful I didn’t potentially get caught up in something that could have been dangerous.
