What a rainy day! It's so hard for me to schedule a long hike like this these days, so after multiple setbacks and a very wet forecast, I decided to pack some rain clothes and push on anyway. Overall, it was a very big adventure. It was really nice when it was only lightly raining because there was hardly anyone out there. I had rain inside my jacket at one point and had to deal with that at the Pantoll Ranger Station, but thinks perked up after that. It REALLY started coming down near the top. I reached the summit and quickly came back down. I ate my lunch while huddled next to the bathroom (the only shelter) with several strangers. I contemplated trying to hitch a ride back down because I was worried about the worsening weather and possibly not seeing anyone for several hours on the way down. In the end, I decided to push on. Indeed, it was several hours before I saw anyone else, but nothing happened to me aside from more rain! The sun finally came out at the end of the day, and I inhaled a burger and a beer down in Stinson after that before heading home. 16 miles total! I'll be back again some day, maybe when my boys are big enough to join me.
