On MLK JR Day in 2021, my husband, my chihuahua and I stupidly summit Baden-Powell WITHOUT spikes, maps or food. (It was the beginning of our hiking journey) On the way back down the soft snow had frozen into ice and we nearly slid off the mountain on a section that had only 1 tree and nothing else to try to grab onto. That tree saved us, but that happened 10 minutes coming down from the summit. We had about 37 frozen over switchbacks to go down and took about 3 1/2 hours to get down because we kept slipping/falling all over the place. We only had 1 set of trekking poles (1 pole each). We survived the day and came out stronger and way smarter. (Common sense isn't always common) ever since then I've been absolutely terrified of the snow. I told myself I would NEVER hike this mountain again. I got enough courage to try again in 2022 but the road I took was closed and never made it up top the trail head. This year with Mojo(his ashes), My husband and a few friends made the hike up. The trail had a lot less snow than my 1st summit in 2021 but still a good amount. The weather was on our side and the views were amazing. 3 years it took us (My husband, Mojo and I) to come back and face (my) fear. I refuse to let fear run my life. Its truly the only thing stopping you from doing amazing things.

Congrats on your summit. I was there the other day and like you, I don’t like snow. Felt great once there. Love your pics. Keep going!!!
