Decided to take along a pair of solar glasses so we could see the solar eclipse as we scaled the mountain to High Point.  Weather was good and early start helped keep the heat level manageable.  Saw a few other hikers along the trail but our most loyal companions were the small flies that circled us almost continuously from just past the locked gate at Mike 3.5 to the top and ba k down again.  Trail was better shaded than we expected.  Enjoyed the changing views as we hike up and around the peak.  Enjoyed the view from the top but didn’t spend much time before starting back down.  Decent was slower than expected and didn’t get back to our car until after dark.  Total time was about 10.5 hours.  Fortunately we packed lots of water and just grinder through it.  This was a very tough hike and no plans to repeat.
