Our group followed the excellent directions provided from the Social Hiker site. This is an out and back trail that started from the Stevenson Memorial Trail head. You definitely need to arrive by at least 7 am – 7:30 am as the dirt parking lot fills up pretty fast. Once we parked, we carefully crossed Highway 29 to pick up the trail head. The first mile is the hardest for any new trail hiker/runner, but our group handled it pretty well. Once you get past mile 1, depending on the time of the year that you go, the weather will vary. For us, it was a beautiful day with a moderate temp of 54 degrees – still great to wear shorts! After our hike we ended up tail gating and picnicking before heading home. Our overall round trip mile was just shy over 10 miles.
