Hike report from Honor(9): she liked that there were lots of spots to rest and take pictures. She liked that they had blocked off sensitive alpine zone plants to protect their growth. On the way down, we made a game of adding stones to the cairns along the way!
Our hiking crew definitely gave the views 5☆☆☆☆☆ but it was definitely more challenging than we anticipated!
We hiked on an absolutely perfect day, 70s at the base with low humidity. The open rock faces made for fun scrambles (not anywhere near as challenging as Monadnock but still a scramble). This is considered one of the most popular hikes in the White Mountains and the views are beautiful at the many overlooks. Lots of steep inclines both up and down and the final descent off Dickey Mountain has a few areas with sheer drops that add to the excitement. It was cloudy but it didn't interrupt the panoramic views. The old folks of the group are definitely sore, the 4.4 mile loop packs a punch for the uninitiated. It was our first peak in the six pack.. we got a later start this year!
We capped the trip off with massive ice cream cones from a local shop that went a long way to soothing sore muscles!
