The drive to Redbox is always lovely in my opinion. There were only a few other cars parked in the lot. I would have preferred a slightly earlier start, but I was slow-moving and got on the trail at 7 am. Thankfully the first couple of miles are in the shade of the mountains. The first part was mildly buggy, but I was inundated once I got to the last mile scramble in the exposed heat. Bees, black flies, butterflies, every imaginable bug it seemed. And the peak was the worst. My all-natural bug spray was doing nothing. I only spent long enough for a picture and started right back down. It was pretty hot through that section of the hike.
The whole trip I only saw 3 people, 2 Edison workers at the bottom of the trail and 1 solo hiker heading down as I was heading up. Overall a nice hike.
