To start – the dirt road to the parking lot is short, but pretty rough.
Nice steady climb on a mostly well-manicured trail. In terms of walking ease for a significant peak, only Baden Powell is smoother. The manzanita has encroached the trail at the level middle part so that shorts-wearers might get scratched up. I was happy to have pants.
I did no acclimatization (live near sea level) and was feeling a bit woozy near the end. But got up ok and the descent was comfortable.
The shunt to the peak itself is easy to miss – any GPS program on your phone would show where to go.
Views on this hike are spectacular and pretty consistent throughout. This is a great hike, perfect training for something bigger as you get the elevation gain and distance without much wear and tear on the joints.
