There was little snow on the trail until just before Limber Pine Bench. Lots of water between Manzanita Flat and Limber Pine Bench but no water before or after unless you're willing to heat snow.
The trail after Limber Pine Bench was pretty much unusable and we decided to head straight up the side of the mountain in the dirt/rocks to reach San Bernardino Peak. Most people we spoke with on the trail turned around at Limber Pine Bench because of the conditions.
Microspikes and trekking poles are a minimum to complete this hike successfully with the current conditions.
We planned on backpacking to San Gorgonio and stayed at Trail Fork Campground. It was mostly covered in snow but we were able to get water from the snow melt. We didn't attempt to find the Trail Fork Spring and just assumed it was under the snow somewhere. We attempted to reach San Gorgonio via San Bernardino Peak Trail from Trail Fork Campground however the steep snow conditions near Shields Peak forced us to turn around.
