I was lucky enough to snag the last permit for Vivian Creek Trail and got to hike up to San Gorgonio Peak on 7/23/2022. The weather was perfect, and a little cloud coverage kept everything nice and cool. There was still water at Vivian Creek Camp and High Creek Camp. I took my time getting to the peak, and the Views from the top were amazing. I carried around 3 liters of water and a Gatorade and drank All of it.

  1. I hiked to the peak when I was 14 years old in Boy Scouts, it was great and still remember a lot of the kids only made it to base camp, 8,000 ft. I then hiked the backside when I was in my 20’s and saw the crashed plane wreckage. Kind of sad you have to promote Oxygen containers when I did it twice with nothing but me. I also did Mount Whitney, 14,505′, no drugs or oxygen. Whitney I understand, it is getting real thin, but Gorgonio, really just go slow and acclimate.
