My first trip to San Gorgonio Mountain, and because I'm me I made it a peakbagging trip. Not satisfied with simply doing the 18 mile trail (with almost 5,000′ of elevation gain) to the top of the tallest mountain in SoCal, I had to hit 8 other points with it* for an adventure 23.6 miles long with 6,000′ of elevation gain. San G was the 6th summit of the day, which coincidentally** was my 6th Peak in the SoCal Six Pack of Peaks Challenge, marking my completion!
In order:
Poopout Hill (7,840′)
Charlton Peak (10,806′)
Little Charlton Peak (10,696′)
Jepson Peak (11,205′)
Big Draw Peak (11,171′)
San Gorgonio Mountain (11,499′)
San Gorgonio NW Slope (11,400′)
Little Dobbs Peak (10,520′)
Dobbs Peak (10,459′)
* The original adventure as planned was 11, but I aborted mission quickly on Dragons Head as the enjoyment factor via the route I could do today would have been a 1/10.
** No coincidence; that was planned.
