Started at 5:00 am on the Deer Creek trail in Idyllwild and finished at 3:15 pm. Took the 19.5 mile loop trail clockwise. Shady all the way up and sunny on the way down. Wore shorts and a tank top and was comfortable throughout the entire hike. If you’re interested, you can sign the register but it’s not at the peak. It’s in the emergency shelter house at the base of the final scramble up to the top. Scenery was great, especially on the way down!

hi great job! just curious as i’m hiking tomorrow was it super hot? says heat wave but temps for mountain seem ok
I found the temperatures to be more mild than what I found estimated on various mountain forecast sites. It was about 70 degrees when we started at 5:00 am in Idyllwild and it was completely shady and comfortable the entire way to the top. On the way down, we continued on the loop on the other side of the mountain and it was more exposed and sunny but not too bad because there was a breeze and intermittent shade. By the time we ended it was in the 90s. To be honest, the temperature was not a factor for us. We felt fine. I wore shorts and a tank top the entire way and was comfortable. There are multiple places to filter water if you need more water during the hike. I drank about 4 liters. If you are following this trail on AllTrails, note that it says 16.5 miles but it is actually 19.5 miles. GREAT hike with nice views! Have fun!
