Fairly uneventful straightforward hike from Humber Park in Idyllwild on an uncrowded Saturday. Not many people on our route, most likely because of the excessive heat. It was supposed to hit 99 in Idyllwild that day, not sure if it did. Though our hike was hot we were spared some by a cloud layer that formed midway through and stayed till the end.
This was maybe my 10th summit of San Jacinto so apologies for the boring post. I do have a couple items to note for this particular route though:
- Don't forget your Adventure Pass to park
- Don't forget your trail permit – ours was checked by a ranger at the trailhead
- There is an excellent water source maybe halfway up? 2 steady streams really close together – great for dunking your head under or filtering to drink –> I used every bit of 3.5 liters for the day and wish I'd brought a filter
