Started early and was on the trial right after 5:00 am to avoid the heat but we lucked out and the cloud cover combined with light rain showers the heat never came. One of my favorite tails I’ve done this year. So beautiful with with many small stream crossings (easily could filter water along the way). The hike starts out step stepping over many logs, roots and rocks. The grade relaxed after the first two miles and didn’t increase again till about 1.5 miles from the top. We opted to scramble the last .25 mile after passing the cabin just short of the summit. The top is absolutely epic with killer rocks a lover the place to hop on for pictures and to take in the amazing view. The down hill was mellow up until the last 2 miles when the legs got tired and had to step down roots, rocks and logs. This hike is amazing and I highly recommend it. Keep a close eye on the map and download the trip before getting to the trail head. I missed a turn and ended up heading .25 mile down a non trail before realizing and turning back.
