The shortest but steepest way from Idyllwild,  was a great workout. Forget the signs, my watch logged 17 miles. We started early so almost all the way up we had shade and cool weather. Many water sources so no need to carry a lot. Beautiful green trail, lots of wild flowers. Overall great day.
