I would consider myself a fairly intermediate hiker (half dome, Baldy x4, Cucamonga, Etc.). By farrrrrrrrrrr, San G was the most challenging for me. The distance I was okay with, the inclines kicked my rear end!!!
I’m not a fan of having to stop and rest; I like staying on the move. San G fully humbled me, with many rest breaks to allow my heart rate to slow down. This took 13 hours and that included all the rest breaks, Summit rest, and a water filter break towards the end.
The trail is absolutely beautiful, well maintained and easy to follow. This was my 6th peak! Yayyy. Happy to end with the most challenging hike I’ve ever done…. At least til next week. We are Mt. Whitney bound, and we are thankful for the preparation Six Pack of Peaks gave us.
