This was our first peak. The trail was well shaded but we still started before 7am to avoid burning during the inclines. The trail was easy to follow and there were markers once you get to the forks. I would wear pants because the shrubbery might give you micro scratches! The most technical part of the hike is that last 0.7 mile – where you were pretty match at a 45 degree angle climbing up to the peak. To be honest though, going back down was scarier than going up! At some parts I climbed it facing the peak so I can get my balance right. There are a few spots with loose gravel/rocks so shoes with grip is a must! Reaching the top felt great after that helluva climb – we enjoyed the views and peace at the top before taking our obligatory signage photo. All in all, it was a great first experience – I think for the novice like me, it gave me a taste of what to expect for the next five more peaks!
