Started on our trek about 8am. the parking lot at the trailhead was only about half full, interesting for a holiday weekend. The trail was clear, quiet and beautiful. The strong smell of pine was a welcome breath of air after being partially quarantined on and off for almost 18 months. The trail felt like a nature walk with stunning views at every turn.
This was my first hike since March and the elevation made it a bit difficult at first but as soon as we hit the switch backs down the mountain after the first peak, we had acclimated and really began to enjoy of morning.
The promise of a peak placard at the top is what got us to our goal peak where we were greeted with a stunning 360 view and a beautiful rock formation gave the perfect backdrop for our pictures.
Our timing was perfect as we were alone for most the hike, and had at least 20 minutes alone at the peak to just sit and enjoy the breeze while fueling our bodies for the trek back. On our way back we ran into some friends completing this challenge and made plans for our next two hikes together.
Tired and satisfied, the day was from beginning to end, perfect.
