The entire trail is covered in ice and snow and spikes are a must. GPS is a must – it's easy to get lost because there is no trail to follow aside from the snow tracks from other hikers. Expect it to take longer than usual because you're postholing in certain areas and taking time to to look at GPS and you will get off track at times.
