The hike to Sawmill is fairly easy with a gentle 450′ incline to Mt Pinos on a dirt road followed by a single track to Sawmill. From Pinos to Sawmill you loose the elevation gain while descending a few switchbacks & regain it again when you get to Sawmill. The scenery is well worth it, as described by Modern Hiker. A fast hiker could make it to Sawmill in about an hour if you didn't stop for photos. If you're looking to increase the challenge you may consider including Grouse Mountain & even Cerro Noroeste. From Sawmill to Grouse you again loose the elevation gain and only need to climb an easy 240′ to bag your 3rd peak. If this still isn't enough, consider Cerro Noroeste, but you will pay more dearly for this peak. It isn't as high but you will loose almost 1000′ of elevation & need to climb about 650′. All toll, including the return, it's about 14 mi with 3880′ of elevation. An easier approach, for all 4 peaks, would be to start at Cerro Noroeste hiking to Pinos and back.
