We arrived at the parking lot a little before 8am. The upper lot was full and the lower lot was filling up fast. We all got spots but by 8am the lot was full. Bathrooms and hiking station was great right before we started out hike from the Echo Canyon Trailhead. The trail starts out going up on a crushed rock trail but quickly accelerated to a very steep and rocky climb. Once you climb the attached rails section, you are on your own! No more rails and the scrambling is real!!! We had more time since we were among the early climbers. Some of our group took hiking poles but they were very difficult to manage on the scramble sections. Each section was very long and involved looking for the path through the boulders. Steep, but manageable to find the trail. Also, there were markers to direct you to the trail. About 1:45 to the top. Gorgeous day and windy on top but the views were so gorgeous. Lots of people taking pictures! We knew it would take just as much time going down as up so we headed down and sure enough, lots of late arrivals hiking up. We finished going down in about as much time, 3:23. 1351 Elevation Gain. Stopped in at La Grande Orange for a fabulous lunch celebration!
