We started early in the morning, down by the water at Stinson Beach. After parking the cars, we walked up the street to the trailhead at Panoramic and Hwy 1. The hike, while challenging, was delightful! Lush foliage, big running streams, and beautiful waterfalls throughout the entire lower section of the mountain.
It took us about 4 hours to make it to the fire lookout tower at the summit, where we ate lunch and we're rewarded by 360 degree veiws of the Marin and the surrounding areas. We took Matt Davis trail all the way back down the mountain. It was less steep due to all the switch backs, but the stairs did start to hurt on our heels after an hour or so.
Overall, a wonderful start to the six pack challenge, and the perfect time of year to do it!
