I joined two of my hiking buddies to backpack San Gorgonio on 4th of July weekend. This was a perfect schedule as normally trails are busy but looked like during this holiday just a handful summited with a few also stayed overnight.
Since this was backpacking, we didn’t start when it was still dark in the early morning as we normally do for dayhike. We took our time reaching High Creek CG a little after noon. Pitched our tent, prepped lunch and rested a couple hours before deciding to head up the summit. It was very hot that day sometime between 3-4p when we left our campground. The top, however, was very refreshing and with only a handful of people, we had so much fun taking our photos.
