Starts steep and gets steeper. But once you get to where Ravens Ridge turns right there are amazing views the entire way up. Deception is rightly named since you can see the summit the entire time you are hiking it. (Probably due to steepness) Lake Peak you can see once you get to the drop off of the ridge. Weather was okay but very windy on my day. Originally, I was going to link Deception and Lake with Santa Fe Baldy but with the wind I decided against it.
Once you get to Deception stay to the right and look for a trail to get over to Lake peak. Otherwise you’ll end up on a sketchy ridge scrabbling and end up having to climb down to the trail anyway.
