It was a very chilly morning, so much so that my finger tips froze while I was tying up my boots at the trailhead. There was threat of snow and freezing temps, so I told myself that if the weather turned for the worse, I would turn around at the Icehouse Saddle. Hikers were coming down saying that it was freezing at the saddle and the winds were picking up. After that, I didn't see a singe soul the rest of the time. The trail conditions had some patchy ice, but I never had to put on traction. I made it to the summit. There was very little visibility and rime was present everywhere from the wind and fog. It began to spit snow, and absolutely beautiful. I am so glad that I kept hiking to the summit. I was prepared for the cold and foul weather…And that makes all the difference in the world. <3
