Fun weekend up in wine country and a hike up beautiful Mt St Helena (10.3 miles, 2,129 ft elev gain, Max elev. 4,317 ft).
We had a clear day yesterday with patches of low lying fog. The top of the peak provided us a 360° view of the surrounding vineyards and distant mountains. We could even make out the tops of buildings in SF. The trail head begins at the location where famed writer Robert Louis Stevenson honeymooned with his wife at a miner's camp. Some of the foundation still stands.
Burn area still very present from where the huge fire occurred a few years ago.
Juxtaposed with the the natural setting are the giant radio towers hovering above but still a gorgeous location. Photos don’t give the views justice.
We really lucked out with the weather. Perfect warm (but not too hot) temps with a refreshing breeze.
