Arrived at the parking lot a little after 6am. Our group of 5 was the first on the trail that morning. We hardly encountered anyone else; only 3 other groups the entire trip. It was raining a little bit when we first started, but we only experienced rain the first 30 minutes or so. It was chilly and definitely cold and breezy at the top. The hike isn't overly challenging and doesn't gain very much elevation until the last half mile. There were some beautiful views of the neighboring mountains along along the way, and I quite enjoyed the more laid back vibe this trail seemed to have. Like I mentioned the last half mile is where you gain a lot of elevation all at once, but it wasn't terrible. We spent some time at the summit taking photos and having a snack, but there were lots of clouds so the view wasn't anything great and the wind made it pretty cold. Overall I enjoyed this hike and would definitely recommend it to newbie hikers looking to complete their first “long hike” or first peak. Was a little disappointed that the candy store next to the trailhead was closed. Our group was really looking forward to checking it out and buying a treat after our hike. I logged this hike at 10.7 miles and it took us 4 hours and 13 minutes to complete.
