Made the drive over to Cleveland National Forest with the boy Mark on a weekday hike. The drive was a fun one, minus some unexpected road delays (for construction) right outside where the trail begins.

The weather was good, and Sitton Peak is relatively shorter than the last few hikes I’ve done. 3 days after my coldest hike ever at Cucamonga peak, that made the physical demands seem less daunting for this hike. Me and Mark are running a half marathon in about a month, so we casually decided that we were going to try to push it on how quickly we could get to the top. This was a nice strategy, because the trail itself is closed off (views wise) and there isn't much to see until you get to the top. Got up in about 1hr 30 min. We were able to handle the super steep 0.3 miles at the top of the ascent nicely, thanks to all the homies alerting us on Alltrails.

The views at the top however, are insane. We hung out up there for a while (Mark took a fat ass nap). Honestly, we could have stayed up there all day, if we didn't feel like we were hogging the peak, and we didn't have to fight traffic home.

Normally the hike itself is the MVP for me. The view was very great at the top, but the real MVP was the candy shop we parked at. The people that work there are so nice, I never thought I would be buying a bunch of chocolate after a 10 mile hike. I would go do the hike again just to say hello to them and support their business.

MVP number 2 is the views you get on the drive over there that overlook Lake Elsinore. I was running late to a session, but I had to stop for a moment over the cliff and appreciate the it as we were leaving. Great stuff. Nice sunset to drive back to reality.
