Very fun hike. The initial trail is absolutely gorgeous and easy-going even though you're steadily climbing. Great views of the mountains in the distance. As you come around the bend and get to the base of Sitton Peak, you have a very steep climb ahead of you. Strongly recommend hiking poles as the trail is loose dirt in several areas and a few instances of scrambling. But once you get to the top, the views are amazing.
As this was a shorter hike for us, we extended it by heading on an offshoot trail that took us around the back of Sitton Peak – the trail was quite overgrown and we never quite made it to another vista, so we ended up turning around – but we did get some additional distance and elevation in, and a few scratches.
