The first two miles of trail are in good shape with water bars to control erosion; after that the trail was often rutted due to rains and lack of water bars on the trail. Deep ruts made it difficult to maintain an even hiking pace. Perhaps the trail will get some maintenance next year. Many gnats and I just ignored them. Final half mile to peak is a steep use-trail that was not built or maintained by the Forest Service. Care is needed on the descent from the peak due to steep sections of the use-trail that are slippery and dangerous. Good view from summit.
