Started later than planned, and ended up hiking back in direct Sun and heat. Definitely a hike to do in the spring or the fall. Lots and lots of wildflowers, many opening up in the sun surprisingly. Beautiful views at the peak and deep green hills. Bugs were annoying. Candy shop is still open, despite saying Permanently Closed on their website; probably because the name is changing. Ortega highway is under construction, so watch for road closures.
