The Sitton Peak hike was absolutely gorgeous! The manzanita was in bloom and their flowers were so adorable! The trail is in a beautiful coastal sage plant community, with white sage, sugar sumac, sagebrush, monkey flower, ferns, and yucca. (I think I also saw ceanothus, buckwheat, coffeeberry and Cleveland sage, but don't quote me on that…)
The weather alternated between overcast; light rain; and rainy, windy and cold. Unfortunately it was rainy, windy and cold when we reached the summit, so no real view for us. However, there were some sprinkles of sunlight as we worked our way back down the trail that helped to thaw us out. The rain made the clay soil near the summit very slippery. However, the lower part of the trail was much more sheltered and dry.
