We started out in the morning. It was a brisk cool crisp morning. The sky was so blue. The sun was shining but not hot. We could not have asked for better weather for our Mt. Tam hike. This was probably the easiest of the pack thus far (I have two more). Although the last 0.3 to the top which is a rock scramble tweaked my already bad knees and made for the rest of the hike a bit painful. We came across a dead end on the Steep Ravine Trail. It is closed for maintenance until further notice. Not to fear, an alternate route is right there, a bridge that will take you to the infamous stairs! So many. As you climb and climb and climb, all you can think of is, I have to go back down every single one of these. LOL. They are also some of the most awkwardly spaced out stairs ever! The rest of the way to to the top was easy. Not that the stairs are tough but you know, just UGH! As we passed Pantoll Campground, we were reminded of a time early on in our marriage that we camped there and hiked a chunk of the Dipsea Trail. Awww…memories. The top was glorious! Nothing like views of the palatial estate known as San Quentin. They have some famous residents there but we shall not name them. They don't need any more notoriety than they already have. Ah but look to your right a bit and you can see SF City. From the top, it's beautiful and appears to be so peaceful. When you're down in it, completely another story. Turn around and you can see some beautiful landscape. We took our obligatory “made it to the top” pictures. Found two benchmarks, ate some trail mix and made our way back down. Like I said, going down was a bit painful for me. As we made our way back, after all those stairs, we were greeted by bunnies! Quite a few actually. They were so cute. It truly was just a beautiful day. We enjoy being outdoors and hiking. It was a perfect day!
