Tough hike. Predicted 85° and it was. On the top of the Ridges & mtns. But in the canyon… Oh boy. Super hot. Over 100 ° Had to have a Medic meet me at trailhead after hike, I experienced the beginning of heat stroke/exhausting on those steep climbs back to car. Even ranger was surprised by great of the day as it was predicted to be much cooler.
If I do this again, I'll do as sunset hike. Spoke to ranger and he said this particular state park is open to night hiking(most cost at sunset) as they have backpackers etc… Just need to properly pay and register.
This was the roughest of the peaks I've ever done. Probably a one and done for me, lol
Saw dozens of deer, 3 wild boars, snake tracks but no snakes and starts from sidings of my heat exhaustion 😔 thankful I eat prepared with extra water, snacks, my hat, sunscreen, trekking pulled and me garmin inreach explorer. Used it after this hike to call sos. Great service to have for solo hikers like me. First time I've used it in 5 years of owning.
Could not find exact peak, my alltrails and garmin told me I was on it… But it was just a great spot on the hill. So… Who knows?
