If only the mountains were a bit closer, an earlier start would’ve occurred. Sleep the past week was in short supply and having a 2+ hour drive to the trailhead meant even less sleep the day of the hike. Roots, rocks, and a lot of dirt were prevalent as we started on the trial a little after 8. Unfortunately unlike two years ago when going on the hike the weather was clear and sunny. But fortunately, it wasn’t too hot. Up until the wheelbarrow, we were at a brisk pace, but afterwards, the exhaustion set in and I was dragging the last two and half miles averaging 53 minute miles. At the top it was great seeing Big Bear and good for taking a quick nap. Even the dinosaur enjoyed the view! Going back down was faster, but the switchbacks seemed to take forever.
