Beautiful sunny day to summit Mt. Baden Powell. The first couple of miles up the switchback are free of snow, but then the trail disappears under the snow and we had to don our microspikes and hike straight up. Going up was not to bad, but later coming down the snow was slushy and slippery. We heard of one hiker who fell and broke her ankle on the descent. At the very least, microspikes and poles are required.
After summiting, we decided to make a side trip to the abandoned Bighorn Mine.
