The weatherman said 40% chance of rain. We found it! Fortunately we were down below the trees before the lightening, heavy rain, and hail started. The hike up was pretty easy for the first few miles. The last 1.5 miles up to the summit was steep and gorgeous. There were massive trees, and lush green foliage. It was a great escape from the barren desert!
We walked down the mountain quickly in 6″ deep water. The water followed the trail most of the way down.
If you are researching this hike, you may be wondering “Why did they got to Buckskinner park?”. Google maps first took us to the fire road that leads to the summit, then to Buckskinner park. Alltrails navigation will take you to the corrsct trailhead (#21).
We were glad that we went to the “wrong trailhead” we probably would have missed the waterfalls if we had gone to the “correct one”.
